Newsr — How we handle your data
Newsr ("we," "our," or "us") is a news summarization application developed and operated by Amygdala Capital AS, a company registered in Norway. Newsr aggregates news from publicly available sources and uses artificial intelligence to generate concise summaries, delivering them to you through our mobile application.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Newsr application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

If you subscribe to Newsr Pro, your purchase is processed entirely through Apple's App Store. Newsr Pro provides an ad-free experience. We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat receives:

We do not use your topic preferences, reading history, or settings for advertising purposes. Ad-related data collection is handled solely by Google's ads SDK.
Newsr is a free app supported by advertising for users on the free tier. We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the App.

News summaries in Newsr are generated using artificial intelligence. Public news articles from RSS feeds are processed on our servers to produce concise summaries. No personal or user data is sent to AI processing services. You receive only the finished summaries — raw article content is not stored or transmitted to your device.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes. Data shared with Google AdMob is used solely for the purpose of serving and measuring advertisements within the App.
Your data is stored on servers provided by Supabase, which uses cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. All communication between the App and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
Advertising data is processed by Google on their own infrastructure in accordance with their security practices and privacy policy.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If you uninstall the App, locally stored data is automatically deleted from your device. Server-side data associated with your anonymous identifier will be deleted upon request (see Your Rights and Choices below). For data held by Google, please refer to Google's privacy policy and data controls.

Our servers are hosted in regions operated by Supabase's cloud infrastructure providers. Google processes advertising data on its global infrastructure. If you access the App from outside these regions, your data may be transferred internationally. We ensure that any such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR, through the use of services that maintain appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Newsr is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not serve personalized advertisements to users identified as children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
